How break-even is calculated
Your break-even price is the sale price where profit is exactly zero. Because the marketplace takes a percentage of the sale price, you cannot just add the fee to your cost — you have to gross the price up so that what is left after the fee still covers your costs:
Break-even price = (fixed fee + total cost per unit) ÷ (1 − fee rate)
Total cost per unit includes your item cost, packaging and shipping you pay, and any fixed monthly costs (subscriptions, software) spread across the units you sell that month. Set a target margin to see the price you would need to charge to keep that share of each sale as profit.
